Welcome

It is our great pleasure to invite you to the 6th International Symposium on Light in Horticulture held on November 15-19, 2009 in Tsukuba, Japan. The last 5th International Symposium on Artificial Lighting was held in June 2005 in Lillehammer, Norway. The main theme of the upcoming symposium is not only artificial lighting for plant cultivation but also the use of natural light in protected horticulture.

The symposium consists of three-day technical sessions including invited lectures by distinguished scientists from around the world and oral/poster technical presentations, and one-day technical tour. The reviewed papers of all presentations will be given the opportunity to be published in an issue of Acta Horticulturae. Workshops, company exhibitions, and accompanying persons program will also be scheduled during the symposium. Pre- and post-conference tours will include visiting commercial industries such as plant production under artificial light.

The symposium will take place at Tsukuba International Congress Center (Epochal Tsukuba) located in the downtown of Tsukuba Science City. Hotels, restaurants, shopping stores, parks, etc. are within easy walking distance. From Narita International Airport, it takes 1 hour and 40 minutes by limousine bus. Tsukuba Express trains take you to the Tokyo downtown in 45 minutes.

Register now online at this website. We want to make your visit to Tsukuba an enjoyable and exciting experience. We look forward to seeing you in November, which is a best season to visit Japan.
